Race Golf Sponsors Report
Round 1 Brands Hatch
Hi All
Hope you are well
Just a brief note to let you know how the first race of the season went for ‘our’ Golf Gti..
Over the winter, my long suffering techies at Tracktive Solutions had given the old girl a bit of a fettle in readiness for the season. Thanks to a superb new scratch-built Scorpion system and a Pipercross induction kit, we had a couple more ponies than we did last year.. and thanks to Derbyshire’s finest – a much nicer soundtrack to boot! With the fuelling altered to cope with the better breathing and the luxury of a trailer borrowed from RCM (thanks lads) it all looked good for the start of the season.
Qualifying went well, although it was clear that despite the Golf being on the pace of last year, a lot of money had been spent by the opposition over the winter, with several of my 2009 contemporaries seemingly having gained 20-30 bhp and tricky diffs during the off-months.
Undeterred, I pressed on and from 35 starters, was awarded with a 22nd. Race one was hectic, with a few spins and crashes, but I managed to keep my nose clean and tootled home to a 20th.. This was improved by Race 2, despite some epic drives further up the field.. and narrowly avoiding being hit by a spinning Cossy.. up to an 18th.. Sadly no class wins or trophies this time, but the car went well, and thanks to a mahoosive box of Autoglym turning up two days before the meeting - and its expert application by valeter supreme Del Millington, at least it looked the part! :o)
